  • Description

    SunSetter Products has an opening for a Manufacturing Process Engineer (MPE) with project management experience.  The MPE will be responsible for operational excellence and quality, ensuring continuous improvements in processes, quality, production and safety. The purpose of this position is to train, lead productivity events, develop projects and coach on problem solving.  The individual will also provide safety training to employees and drive safety initiatives throughout the organization. This position will support manufacturing on problem solving and employee implementation and report to the Plant Manager.  Local candidates only.  The company does not provide relocation allowance.

     

    Job Duties

    * Evaluate existing processes and configuration of manufacturing systems and make recommendations on improvements

    * Develop and review manufacturing plan to generate a more productive workflow

    * Develop work instructions, manufacturing drawings, technical specifications, performance data and process checklists necessary to manufacture the product to meet the highest standards

    * Create innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output

    * Assist in developing the quality procedures necessary to validate the product

    * Define, develop, and/or acquire the appropriate fixtures/tools needed for the manufacturing process

    * Support policy deployment activities to define strategic objectives and metrics for the facility

    * Assist in the development of process improvements and determine how to incorporate planned changes to achieve the maximum efficiencies

    * Collect and analyze production data to improve processes, analyze trends in equipment issues, suggest and implement corrective actions to solve manufacturing issues

    * Review and document KPI monitoring systems to determine ways to improve company operations

    * Generate project schedules and deliver monthly status reports

    * Create and maintain manufacturing procedures, work and training instructions, and documentation (BOMs, etc.)

    * Find ways to reduce manufacturing costs while maximizing profitability

    * Support the efforts of Environmental Health/Training for the factory

    Requirements

    * Must have Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical engineering or industrial engineering

    * Minimum of (5) years’ experience in manufacturing industrial/process engineering

    * CAD or AutoCAD experience required

    * Must have experience creating data collection and retrieval tools for organizational use

    * 5 Years’ experience in Lean Manufacturing preferred, however recent college graduates are invited to apply.

    * 6 Sigma certification a plus

    * Preferably bilingual Spanish-English

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    * Strong process engineering and data analysis skills required

    * Working knowledge of process improvements tools and methodologies, strong quantitative, analytical and process design skills are required

    * Demonstrated project leadership and people management skills

    * Exhibits strong interpersonal communication skills; effectively interacts across all levels of the organization (from hourly worker to top execs) and able to influence team dynamics toward goal attainment

    * Capable of delivering constructive feedback and providing leadership in a cross functional environment

    * Must have advance skills with Microsoft Office applications

    * Strong track record of managing projects within the factory environment

    * Outstanding verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational and interpersonal skills

    * Exhibits energetic, hands on, plant floor approach

    * Solid understanding of lean and statistical methods and their application to product or process engineering.

    * Strategic thinker; able to define metrics, goals and strategies for continuous improvement

    * Proven change agent

    * Expertise in Lean Kaizen and 5S programs in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable

    * Should have a strong understanding of PFMEA, Error Proofing and Standard Work and Flow along with Control Plans

     

    Physical Requirements

    * Ability to sit, stand and walk for 8 hours

    * Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally

    * Ability to wear all required PPE
