The Global Procurement Intern position is intended to assist the purchasing team with project specific support while providing the student with valuable work experience related to their chosen field in business management, technical or supply chain fields of study.
The student should be a junior or higher with a path to obtain their degree from an accredited college with the next 1-2 years. General coursework of the student should include supply chain related classes, but could also include classes in areas such engineering, statistics, and business management.
Provide functional support to the Global Procurement team. This is successfully accomplished by understanding and adhering to project requirements, utilizing and applying appropriate tools and methods, recognizing opportunities, and pursuing continuous improvement in all aspects of the project. These efforts will have a direct impact on reducing costs for Springs, while improving value and performance of the department.
Typical Job Duties:
*Analyze purchase data and draw conclusions from the analysis
*Collaborate with Global Commodity Managers to ensure data analysis is accurate and useful in the development of strategies
*Research product standards and study engineering drawings to recommend changes to classifications
*Learn the functionality of and use Springs’ ERP system
*Prepare and document Product Change Requests (PCRs) as directed by Sourcing Specialists
*Communicate and provide project status/updates to the designated Procurement project leaders
*Communicate and regularly follow up with vendors/suppliers to obtain necessary documentation
*Involved in continuous improvement initiatives following process improvement methods.
*Maintain and organize the department’s information management archives such as SharePoint site or department e-files
