  • Description

     

    Job Purpose:

     

    The primary function of this position is to manage key cost accounting process requirements including standard costing, costing analysis, cost reduction, inventory reserve calculations, GAAP compliance and accounting policy alignment. This role will also support the US operations with analysis of facility performance, understanding and tracking progress against key manufacturing initiatives, and to work collaboratively on the budgeting and forecasting process. In addition, this position will assist with the financial analysis on capital expenditure projects, track expected results for cost savings versus actual, and other ad hoc analysis as needed.

     

    Job Duties:

     

    COST ACCOUNTING - 50%

    * Direct management of the Cost Accounting Team

    * Obtain a strong understanding of Frontier (SWF’s ERP) including the software’s functionality and costing processes

    * Provide cost reduction recommendations and assist with financial analysis for cost reduction ideas

    * Oversee the annual process of establishing standard costs (annual cost roll)

    * Monitor internal controls over inventory, inventory reserves and manufacturing processes

    * Oversee month end close responsibilities including journal entry preparation and review, reconciliation review, variance analysis, etc

    * Direct support of external audit process requirements

    * Manage the global cycle count process and participate in physical inventory observations

     

    US OPERATIONS ANALYTICAL SUPPORT - 50%

    * Understand and explain facility performance on a weekly and monthly basis. Assist in the preparation of documents for facility reviews and provide insights to key leaders during monthly updates.

    * Partner with operations management on projects as requested. This may involve cost analysis, tracking cost reduction efforts, generating proformas for changes to production, etc

    * Assist and support the manufacturing leaders/finance with the monthly rolling forecast process and annual budget preparation

    * Support the financial modeling of capital expense requests. Must be able to explain the model assumptions, risks, upside, etc. and present information to others as requested

    * Support operational projects including the tracking of key savings opportunities

    * Develop and implement continuous process improvements

    * Support operation/manufacturing facilities and large projects as necessary

    * Become proficient in financial systems and effectively utilize tools

     

    Other Duties as Assigned

    * Utilizes quality/process tools and methodology in daily individual work

    * Utilizes quality/process tools and methodology on teams

    * Defines and documents individual processes within sphere of control

    * Ensures that others are trained as back-ups on (processes) within the area/department

    * Improves processes within sphere of control

    * Identifies waste and rework and enacts plan to improve/solve

    * Checks satisfaction of internal customers through use of quality tools and Customer/Supplier metrics

    *Prepare unbiased, data-driven analysis useful for decision making

    * Utilize effective communication strategies to ensure collective understanding and alignment

    This role will require 10-20% travel

     

     

    Requirements

     

    Education and Experience:

    * Minimum- Bachelor's degree and CPA

    * Minimum 6 years of experience including at least 3 years in a management role

    * Manufacturing industry experience required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    * Knowledge of accounting principles gained through classroom education and accounting experience gained through on the job activities. Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to meet critical deadlines are the backbone of these positions.

    * Strong communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to work with personnel at all levels within the organization as well as Corporate finance personnel

    * Ability to apply analytical tools and present findings using effective communication strategies

    * Requires knowledge of financial modeling including make/buy analysis, IRR as well as financial statement analysis

    * Strong business acumen with the drive to dig into issues and ability to create ad hoc analysis

    * Ability to work directly with senior management

    * Knowledge of SAP preferred, advanced Excel, other Microsoft Office platforms. Experience with SQL report writing is desirable.
