Supervise daily operation of Extrusion department processes and people to insure quality, safety, service, and production goals are achieved and maintained.
Perform run-the-business activities through management of department.
*Monitor and manage department daily workload.
*May meet with Production and Inventory Control to plan department workload.
*Ensure quality, safety and service within department.
*May represent department on cross-functional product line team.
*Participate on other cross-functional teams or work on special projects.
*Interact daily with Quality at the Source (Q@S) team to resolve quality issues.
*Manage department Waste in Process (WIP) and Lost in Process (LIP).
*Implement Lean and cost control initiatives (Step 6 and 7 process).
*Provide technical expertise in department.
*Interact with engineering and product platform areas on new product development.
Manage associate lifecycle.
*Interview candidates for open positions
*Coordinate training of new and current associates.
*Assess staffing needs and provide feedback
*May update job descriptions.
*Complete talent requisitions.
*Interview and select appropriate candidates.
*Schedule/manage new hire training and acculturation.
*Complete profile changes, as necessary, for internal candidates.
*Ensure associate performance.
*Complete associate assessments.
*Complete one-on-one review with each associate.
*Make recommendations on associate pay increases.
*Train new associates on assessment.
*Complete mid-year check-ins with associates.
*Coach and mentor associates
*Monitor errors relating to production, quality, etc.
*Prepare documentation for all verbal and written warnings, up to final warning.
*Provide feedback to associates and facilitate performance management discussions
*Manage associate time through ADP.
*Input missed punches, vacation time, attendance bonus, leave of absence, holiday, and other non-worked hours.
*Check and approve overtime.
*Adjust time entries as necessary.
*Move time entries to different departments, as necessary.
*Approve weekly timecards.
Maintain clean and safe work environment.
*Ensure associates follow established procedures to maintain work environment in a neat and orderly condition.
*Ensure associates perform minor maintenance on equipment and tools.
*Ensure associates follow safety policies and procedures.
*Ensure associates attend regularly-scheduled safety meetings.
*Occasionally lead safety meetings
*Lead team in daily stretching program
*Lead daily huddles and other meetings to ensure smooth flow of communication
Education and Experience:
*Required Experience and Education:
*High school diploma or equivalent; At least 3-5 years prior leadership/supervisor experience
*Preferred Experience and Education:
*Minimum requirement of 3-5 years Extrusion processing and proven troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*Must be able to effectively lead a team and develop accountability plans.
*Must be able to research data for metrics, develop plans for misses, communicate and execute plans to resolve issues.
*Must be a team player and have proven time management skills.
*Proven written and verbal communication skills.
*Computer skills, Word/Excel/Power Point/ADP/SAP/FRN or willingness to learn
*Use Microsoft Office to prepare charts, graphs and presentations.
*May facilitate other groups.
*May train and mentor other associates.
*Work all scheduled overtime as needed including occasional Saturday hours.
*Hours will be mainly based on third shift, with some flexibility into other shifts.
