Springs Window Fashions is hiring a Manufacturing (Industrial) Engineer for our SunSetter Business Unit in McAllen, TX—an opportunity to lead lean manufacturing initiatives, optimize process flow, and drive continuous improvement for America’s top retractable awning brand.

This is an on-site position, remote work is not an option.

Job Summary 

The Manufacturing Engineer, an individual contributor reporting directly to the Plant Manager, will design, implement, and improve efficient, lean manufacturing systems that reduce life cycle costs while enhancing safety, ergonomics, material flow, and space utilization. This role will leverage the methods lab to define and validate process standards, tools, and time elements, and will collaborate across Operations, Engineering, Quality, IT, MES, and Safety teams to ensure alignment with best practices and evolving business needs. 

 

Scope

  • Design, Deliver and Improve existing Manufacturing Systems: Create and improve efficient assembly and packaging processes—both partial and full component workflows—that meet cost, safety, and ergonomic targets.
  • Establish Existing Engineering Standards: Develop, document, and deploy process standards and best practices to support Plant Operations in achieving budgeted staffing levels, productivity goals, and strategic cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Support New Product Introductions: Partner with Product Engineering through all phases—concept development, DFMEA, and 3P workshops—to ensure seamless, best-in-class manufacturing system roll-outs.

 

Job Duties

 

Designs Manufacturing System : Lead development, improvement and delivery of all key manufacturing processes (60%)

  • Safety and ergonomic designs through use of scientific analysis
  • Detailed Station layouts that support optimal balance of operator, machine and material flows
  • Material handling systems that support single piece or small lot production with defined WIP levels
  • Manual tooling, fixtures and material racking
  • WIP controls, Material Handing standards and tools
  • Time measurements for all elemental work methods
  • Error proofing techniques at source
  • Packing materials and SOP’s

Deliver & Maintain System Design Tools for each Business Unit (25%)

  • Takt analysis
  • Precedence and manufacturing sequence diagrams
  • Process Flow Diagrams
  • Plant & detailed operator workstation and process layouts
  • Operator and Machine balance charts
  • Operator standard work diagrams
  • Capacity Planning Models
  • Plan for every part (PFEP)
  • Training and visual aides

 Support Plant Improvement and Capability activities (15%)

  • Kaizen workshops
  • Continuous improvement and Gemba walks
  • PFMEA and Control plans
  • Ergonomic and safety improvements
  • Strategic initiatives projects
  • Value Stream Map (VSM)

 

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Industrial Engineering bachelors degree (or equivalent) required, with industrial experience as a Process Engineer
  • Minimum of 4 years manufacturing and engineering experience in designing and improving processes.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing change that yielded substantially lower cost, better space utilization, higher product flow and increased capacity without compromising quality. 

 

Skills Required

  • Expertise in Industrial Engineering Tools: Deep understanding and practical application of Lean methodologies to optimize operator work standards, equipment utilization, material flow, and information systems.
  • Problem Solving & Process Improvement: Proficient in using statistical analysis, quality control, design, planning, and operations management to drive systematic improvements and solve problems.
  • Self-Driven & Multitasker: Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, consistently delivering results.
  • Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Proven ability to lead and foster a culture of continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.
  • Lean Waste Reduction: Hands-on experience implementing Lean techniques to eliminate waste across all areas of the Value Stream Map (VSM).
  • Change Leadership: Ability to challenge the status quo, introduce new initiatives, and drive cultural and organizational performance improvements.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Technical Writing Proficiency: Skilled in documenting processes and systems for clarity and training purposes.
  • Manufacturing Process Knowledge: In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, especially in the window treatment industry.
  • Bilingual - Bilingual in English & Spanish is preferred
